Sheriff Joseph A. Gerace

Integrity Fairness Compassion Professionalism

When an individual is sent to the County Jail by a Judge or Justice, their first experience is to be booked into the facility. This includes obtaining their personal information, checking their backgrounds for any other outstanding warrants, learning their religious preference and screening them for illnesses and potential suicidal tendencies. Inmates are then fingerprinted and photographed. Once the initial booking process is complete, the inmates clothing is stored and they are issued clothing provided by the Sheriff's Office. Following this, they are put into a classification phase where they are prepared for entry into the appropriate section of the jail. Once any individual has been arraigned by a Judge or Justice and committed to the custody of the Sheriff, it becomes the responsibility of the Sheriff's office to not only house those individuals, but to provide transportation. Inmates are transported by both Correction staff and Deputies to all required appointments.
