The Sheriff's Office operates
a Regional Medivac Service named "Starflight". Emergency
medical transport is provided 24 hours a day and covers a 75
mile service area. Starflight is based at WCA Hospital in
Jamestown, New York and has been in service since August of
1986.
Approximately 1/3 of the medical flights are done from
on-scene pick up of patients. Starflight medical transports
are done with a crew of 4 people. Two pilots are supplied by
the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office and WCA Hospital
provides a Trauma nurse and Level 4 Paramedics.
The Pilots and Medical Staff that work on Starflight are
some of the most competent people this area has to offer and
they all have the same goal. To provide the best medical
care and transport possible of patients in need. |
