| Currently, Deputy Sheriff's are
assigned as School Resource Officers in Five Chautauqua County Schools.
Brocton Central School, Cassadaga Valley Central School, Falconer
Central School, Hewes Educational Center BOCES and LoGuidice Educational
Center BOCES. The Deputies assigned have been through extensive training
and are highly skilled to ensure that the best interests of the Schools,
Students and Communities are met. School Resource Officers also work
with Deputies in the Sheriff's office that are assigned to Road Patrol,
the Drug Task Force, and the Investigative division in case an actual
emergency should arise. Besides
the obvious advantage of having a Deputy in the schools for security
reasons, School Resource Officers play an integral role in day to day
activities. They assist Administration, Guidance Counselors and Teachers
with any needs they may have, as well as provide specialized education
to students interested in the Law Enforcement field. Having a School
Resource Officer in the schools, gives the students a different
perspective on Law Enforcement and the men and women that have chosen
this profession.
