The
Chautauqua County Water Emergency Team is comprised of Sheriff's Deputies
and members of the Chautauqua County Fire Service under the direction and
supervision of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department. The C.C.W.E.T.
consists of sixteen members trained in dive, ice and swift-water rescue
techniques. The team trains year round in all weather and water
conditions. It is available to any type of water related emergency at the
request of fire or police officials in Chautauqua County and the
surrounding area. The team maintains an emergency response van equipped
with various types of surface and subsurface water rescue and recovery
equipment. Two towed personal water craft respond with the van on team
callouts. Other resources available to the C.C.W.E.T. include a mobile
command post, all-terrain vehicle, boat, snowmobile, helicopter support
through the Sheriff's Department, heavy rescue vehicles, equipment,
and on-scene air filling capabilities through the Fire Service. |
